A Spice-Jar made of 100% mono-material

Discover why PET is the smarter, more eco-conscious material for your spice jars.

YOUR BENEFITS:
  • Made of one Material: The Jar and Grinder are made of PET and therefore the perfect mono-material solution.
  • 80% Weight reduction: A 115 ml spice jar made of PET weighs just 20g — an 80% weight reduction compared to a 100g glass jar.
  • Up to 50% Co2 reduction: Depending on the percentage of recycled PET used, you can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 50% for a 115 ml jar compared to a jar made of 62.5% recycled glass.
  • Improved Product Safety: Even if the PET spice jars fall, the product stays protected, with no risk of shattered pieces.

Both the jar, made by Greiner Packaging, and the grinder are made entirely from recycled materials, resulting in an 80% weight reduction for a 115 ml packaging compared to conventional glass packaging. This lightweight design also contributes to lower transportation costs and CO2 emissions. Our processes ensure manufacturing of products with high quality and durability as well as the possibility of an optimum use of recycled materials.

Through this mono-material packaging solution, you get an eco-friendly alternative that meets the demands of modern consumers while contributing to the reduction of the ecological footprint.

Comparison r-PET Jar vs. Glass Jar

Weight reduction
This following illustration shows the weight difference between PET and glass packaging for a 115 ml container. PET weighs 20 grams, while glass weighs 100 grams, resulting in an 80% weight reduction when using PET instead of glass.

CO2e impact
This illustration compares the carbon footprint (g CO2e) of spice jars, using different materials: recycled PET (r-PET) at 30%, 50%, and 100% levels, and recycled glass (r-GLASS) at 62.5%. The breakdown shows that packaging made from higher percentages of recycled PET has a lower carbon footprint compared to recycled glass, which has significantly higher emissions due to the combined impact of glass material production and transport.
